Autumn Woods Dexters
Morrisville, Missouri
We raise quality registered Irish Dexter cattle in southwest
Missouri just outside the small town of Morrisville, 20 miles north
of Springfield. We own just11 acres but it is plenty for our
mini-herd of Dexters. We enjoy spending time in the fields with our
cows, feeding, grooming and training for display at local, state and
national cattle shows. We are members of the American Dexter Cattle
Association and the Missouri Dexter Breeders Association.
What is the Dexter Breed?
Dexters are one of the smallest of cattle breeds, the breed standard is just 36 to 44 inches at the shoulder. Dexters are gentle by nature, making them perfect for youth and families. They are easy keepers requiring only 1/2 acre of quality pasture per animal, are easy calvers and can breed up to15years
Accepted coat colors are black, red and dun. They are a very hardy and dual purpose animal producing up to 2 gallons of milk per day and a superior quality marbled meat dressing at 60% of live weight.
Dexters make wonderful farm companions. Not only is the breed efficient, but size and temperament make Dexters nice to have around. The whole family will have lots of fun with these little cattle.
